In April 2013 Muslim Women’s Network UK launched a project with the aim of compiling an anthology that will provide a voice to Muslim women and the wider community in a novel way and assist in tackling the very real and pertinent issues affecting us all. At the same time it will allow us to provide a platform by which to recognise the talent of those within Muslim and/or BME communities. In turn we hope this contributes to our priority area of changing attitudes to women’s leadership.

The project has received poetry and short story submissions from individuals of differing gender, age, race and faith, new and established poets, victims of domestic violence and mental health sufferers. Subjects explored have included domestic violence, forced marriage, racism and Islamophobia. The contributions are evidence of the physical and emotional hurdles that surround members of ethnic minority communities and it is vital that we allow these voices to be heard.

We hope to have the anthology completed and launched early 2014 and in order to ensure our aims are met we intend to distribute a minimum of 500 copies of the anthology to schools and libraries as well as to key personalities across the country. We also hope we can provide a free copy to the poets and writers who become published in the anthology but who may not have the resources themselves to acquire their own work; I hope this highlights the circumstances of some of the contributors.

To do this however we require funding to cover production as well as package and postage; we hope you can help us in achieving this aim. In return we will be happy to offer you recognition within the anthology itself: For £100 you will be mentioned within our list of supporters, for £250 your name, occupation/business and a short message of support will be included and for £500 you will host a full page in the anthology with your full details and words of support. We will also be thanking all supporters who contribute a minimum of £15 by providing you with a copy of the anthology.

By sponsoring us you will be essentially delivering books which not only promote education as well as arts and literature but the talents and realities of Muslim and BME communities.
